Rei Kiriyama is a professional shogi player who turned pro in middle school, a feat that earned him the label of genius. Meanwhile, the shogi board becomes a place where rivals like the fiery Harunobu Nikaidou and the steadfast Kai Shimada challenge him not just as a player, but as a person searching for a reason to keep moving forward.
